What is the IICRC?
The IICRC is the Institute of Inspection, Cleaning and Restoration Certification. Established in 1972, in the USA, to set and promote high standards and ethics within the inspection, cleaning and restoration industry.
It is a certification organisation and technician registry. It creates course outlines and exams leading to certification in categories such as water damage restoration, odour control, mould remediation, OH&S, carpet cleaning, upholstery cleaning and rug cleaning. The IICRC approves instructors and schools to teach IICRC – approved courses. People who attend a course and pass (75% or higher) the IICRC exam become registered technicians committed to ongoing professional development program and to uphold high IICRC standards.
The IICRC is not a trade association and does not offer membership. Instead it provides a structure for education and maintains a registry of qualified companies and technicians.
